Welcome to LerwickSelfCatering.com, where you can learn about our two family-run self-catering flats in Lerwick, Shetland. Both properties were previously our family homes: as our families grew, we moved. In the case of 59 King Harald Street, Kenny & Violet moved upstairs!

59 King Harald Street - 2 Bedrooms; Sleeps Up To 6

59 King Harald Street is the ground floor flat of an Edwardian villa. It is in part of the New Town of Lerwick which was developed in the late 19th and early 20th century. This house named ‘Houll’ was completed in 1912. The house was bought by Mr & Mrs Crossan in the early 70’s and has been thoroughly renovated and well maintained since then. There is an established garden at both front and rear of the flat.

It is a 2 bedroom ground floor flat consisting of a living room, double bedroom, twin bedroom, dining room with sofa bed, fully fitted kitchen and bathroom with bath and shower overhead. It is a large, spacious property centrally located with plentiful parking available.

80 Commercial Street, Lerwick 80 Commercial Street, Lerwick

80 Commercial Street - 3 Bedrooms; Sleeps Up To 8

80 Commercial Street is a second floor flat situated in the heart of ‘Da street’ as Commercial Street is affectionately known. The building was built in 1905-6 for E. S. Reid Tait, a local author and businessman. It is a listed building. Mrs Moar bought the property in 1996 and lived there until 2004. The building had an extensive refurbishment in 2007.

The property is a 3 bedroom top floor flat consisting of a living room with open plan dining room, 2 double bedrooms, family room with double bed and bunk beds, fully fitted kitchen and bathroom with bath and shower overhead.

This property is run by Marie Moar (nee Crossan).

Location

Lerwick is a thriving town and the capital of Shetland.  The name comes from the Norse ‘Leirvik’ meaning muddy bay.  Lerwick is sheltered by the isle of Bressay to the east, providing an excellent natural harbour.  It is a busy port with vessels of all sizes from oil related shipping to the fishing fleet, cruise ships, yachts and pleasure cruisers.  If you decide to come to Shetland by ferry then you will arrive in Lerwick. 

Both flats are located in central Lerwick with most amenities only a stroll away.  The properties are highlighted on our Lerwick Attractions & Amenities Location Map.  The two flats are marked with the following symbol:

We welcome families and can supply a variety of equipment to lighten your packing.  Please ask in advance and we’ll let you know what we can do.
