History of the Building
80 Commercial Street is a second floor flat situated in the heart of ‘Da street’ as Commercial Street is affectionately known. The building was built in 1905-6 for E. S. Reid Tait, a local author and businessman. It is a listed building. Marie bought the property in 1996 and lived there until 2004.
It is the ideal base for your visit to Shetland. The flat has superb views over Lerwick Harbour and Bressay. It is spacious with 2 double rooms and a family room. All resources required during your stay are within close proximity to the flat including all bus routes.
The flat had an extensive refurbishment in 2007. There is a new fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer and washing machine. A new bathroom suite has also been fitted including a power shower over the bath.
A selection of restaurants and takeaways are all within walking distance, in some instances less than 2 minutes’ walk. Options include a Bistro, Chinese, Indian, Italian pizzeria, Chip shop, baked tatties & several hotel restaurants and bars.
The tourist office is only 400 metres away.
