80 Commercial Street, Lerwick, Shetland

Location

History of the Building

Our previous home is your holiday home! 80 Commercial Street is a second floor flat situated in the heart of ‘Da street’ as Commercial Street is affectionately known.  The building was built in 1905-6 for E. S. Reid Tait, a local author and businessman. It is a listed building.  Marie bought the property in 1996 and lived there until 2004.

It is the ideal base for your visit to Shetland. The flat has superb views over Lerwick Harbour and Bressay.  It is spacious with 2 double rooms and a family room.  All resources required during your stay are within close proximity to the flat including all bus routes.

The flat had an extensive refurbishment in 2007. There is a new fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer and washing machine.  A new bathroom suite has also been fitted including a power shower over the bath.

Dining Room window view over to Bressay (ferry can be seen in bottom right pane!) A selection of restaurants and takeaways are all within walking distance, in some instances less than 2 minutes’ walk.  Options include a Bistro, Chinese, Indian, Italian pizzeria, Chip shop, baked tatties & several hotel restaurants and bars.

The tourist office is only 400 metres away.

Views over Harbour

The flat is on the top floor (second floor) of the building.

When you reach the top of the stairs, the views are definitely worth it.  You have unimpeded view over the small boat harbour, Victoria pier and Bressay.  You can also watch the world go by on the Esplanade.
